October 5-7 2009 CalConnect Interoperability Test Event Cupertino, California
The October 5-7 2009 CalConnect Interoperability Test Event of The Calendaring and Scheduling Consortium
will take place just before and in conjunction with Roundtable XVI, hosted by
Apple in Cupertino, California.
The events will take place all day (from 0800-1800) on Monday and Tuesday*, and from
0800 to 1200 noon on Wednesday. Breakfast, lunch, and snacks at breaks will
be served each day.
*The 1600-1800 session on Tuesday October 6 will be a Q&A session
with Apple engineers from the iCal Server, iCal Client, and iPhone
Calendar teams. This session will also be open to Roundtable participants
who sign up to attend it.
This IOP Test Event will be a "regular" event testing calendaring
servers and desktop clients. The next Mobile Calendaring IOP Test Event
has not yet been scheduled. At this time there is some discussion of having
a Mobile IOP Test Event in parallel with the regular event, but nothing has been
confirmed.
Testing scenarios at this Interoperability Test Event will continue to evolve but at this
point we are planning
- iCalendar/iMIP/iTIP testing
- CalDAV testing, especially CalDAV Scheduling and implicit scheduling
- Freebusy Read URL Protocol testing
- CardDAV testing
In all cases at least two participating organizations must be interested in testing
a particular area or scenario to form testing pairs.
Please note that you do not need finished or polished code to participate
in the IOP testing; in fact as soon as you have something working at all, testing
against other participants can help debugging and code development,
especially in identifying red herrings and wrong decisions.
Who May Participate or Observe
Any vendor or organization wishing to test a calendaring and
scheduling implementation, or a mobile calendaring server or client, is welcome to participate whether or not
they are a Consortium member. Note that Consortium members
receive a substantial discount on their CalConnect Interoperability Test Event registration
fee.
Any vendor or organization wishing to observe the
IOP Test Event is welcome whether or not they are a Consortium member. Note
that an organization, member or not, may only observe one IOP Test Event.
Venue and Logistics
Please see CalConnect XVI for logistics and schedule information
for this event.

Interoperability Event Scenarios
If you are planning to participate, please contact us to let us know which interoperability event
scenarios you wish to pursue or if you would like to propose a new scenario.
CalConnect will invite all registered participants to two or three conference calls prior
to the event to discuss logistics, testing scenarios, etc.
Co-Located Consortium Roundtable
CalConnect Interoperability Test Event participants who are not Consortium members will not be able to participate in the
other Consortium activities unless their organization is an observer at this Roundtable.
However, a non-member organization
participating in the IOP Test Event can join the
Consortium at the event, become a member immediately,
and be able to participate as a member in the technical committee and
roundtable meetings.
