January 30 - February 1 2012 CalConnect Interoperability Test Event Apple Inc., Cupertino, California
The January 30 - February 1 2012 CalConnect Interoperability Test Event
will take place just before and in conjunction with Roundtable XXIII, hosted by
Apple Inc. in Cupertino, California.
The event will take place all day (from 0800-1800) on Monday and Tuesday, and from
0800 to 1200 noon on Wednesday. Breakfast, lunch, and Morning and afternoon refreshments will
be served each day. All participants and observers are invited to a dinner Monday evening.
Please Note Well: It is our intention to make this Interoperability Test Event
as useful as possible for members and non-members. To this end we
welcome suggestions from interested parties on what they might want to test, and with
whom.
In addition to our regular interoperability testing, we will conduct two BOFS on
implementation issues of interest to the test event participants; please see BOFs
below for more information.
Testing scenarios at this regular Interoperability Test Event will continue to evolve but at this
point we are planning:
- CardDAV testing
- iCalendar/iMIP/iTIP testing
- CalDAV testing, especially CalDAV Scheduling
- CalDAV/CardDAV SRV Discovery and Well-Known URI
- WebDAV Sync Report for CalDAV and CardDAV
-
Timezone Service Protocol and Timezones by Reference
-
xCal, the XML Format for iCalendar
- Task Scheduling
- (from client side typically don't have organizers and attendees)
- Extended query
- Recurring tasks for alarms and regeneration
- Timerange query with no DTSTART and DUE
- CalWS-REST and CalWS-SOAP, the web services protocols for calendar
- iSchedule (new draft planned by testing event)
- Mobile CalDAV client/server testing
- If there is interest, synchronization testing for mobile clients in general
In all cases at least two participating organizations must be interested in testing
a particular area or scenario to form testing pairs.
Please note that you do not need finished or polished code to participate
in the IOP testing; in fact as soon as you have something working at all, testing
against other participants can help debugging and code development,
especially in identifying red herrings and wrong decisions.
Test Event BOFs
Monday Lunch: Update vs replacement of calendar data:
The BOF will discuss the problems with replacement as an update mechanism and how various solutions are being developed to avoid these issues. The problem areas to be covered will include update of attachments in CalDAV and attendee participation status changes.
Tuesday Lunch: Auto-discovery and account provisioning:
This BOF will discuss various ways to improve the current process for auto-discovery of server and automatic account provisioning. We will discuss the current standards approach of SRV records + .well-known resource, and look at an alternative pure HTTP solution using the webfinger proposal.
