October 1-3 2012
CalConnect Interoperability Test Event
Google, Zürich, Switzerland

Last Updated 23 August 2012

The October 1-3 2012 CalConnect Interoperability Test Event will take place just before and in conjunction with Roundtable XXV, hosted by Google, in Zurich, Switzerland.

The event will take place all day (from 0830-1800) on Monday and Tuesday, and from 0830 to 1200 noon on Wednesday. Lunch and Morning and afternoon refreshments will be served each day. All participants and observers are invited to a dinner Monday evening.

Please Note Well: It is our intention to make this Interoperability Test Event as useful as possible for members and non-members. To this end we welcome suggestions from interested parties on what they might want to test, and with whom.

What Will Be Tested At This Event

As of 15 June 2012 the following areas will be tested:
  • iSchedule
  • CalDAV Access
  • CalDAV Calendar Sharing and Notifications
  • CalDAV Scheduling (including implicit scheduling)
  • iMIP and iMIP Gateways
  • CardDAV
  • Timezone Service Protocol and Timezones by Reference
This list will be updated as additional testing areas are identified and requested by two or more testing organizations. The following areas may also be tested if two or more testing organizations express interest:
  • Web Services (CalWS REST and CalWS SOAP)
In all cases at least two participating organizations must be interested in testing a particular area or scenario to form testing pairs.

Please note that you do not need finished or polished code to participate in the IOP testing; in fact as soon as you have something working at all, testing against other participants can help debugging and code development, especially in identifying red herrings and wrong decisions.

Who May Participate or Observe

Any vendor or organization wishing to test a calendaring and scheduling implementation, or a mobile calendaring server or client, is welcome to participate whether or not they are a Consortium member. Note that Consortium members receive a substantial discount on their CalConnect Interoperability Test Event registration fee.

Any vendor or organization wishing to observe the IOP Test Event is welcome whether or not they are a Consortium member. Note that an organization, member or not, may only observe one IOP Test Event.

Venue and Logistics

Please see CalConnect XXV for logistics and schedule information for this event.

Registration

Please see CalConnect Interoperability Test Event Registration Fees for information about event registration fees. Please choose one of the following registration methods:

Interoperability Event Scenarios

If you are planning to participate, please contact us to let us know which interoperability event scenarios you wish to pursue or if you would like to propose a new scenario.

CalConnect will invite all registered participants to two or three conference calls prior to the event to discuss logistics, testing scenarios, etc.

Co-Located Consortium Roundtable

CalConnect Interoperability Test Event participants who are not Consortium members will not be able to participate in the other Consortium activities unless their organization is an observer at this Roundtable. However, a non-member organization participating in the IOP Test Events can join the Consortium at the event, become a member immediately, and be able to participate as a member in the technical committee and roundtable meetings.

Further Information

This page will be updated as more information becomes available or more areas are chosen for testing. Please check this page frequently for updates.
