CalConnect Interoperability Test Events
Menlo Park, California

The February 4-5 CalConnect Interoperability Test Events of The Calendaring and Scheduling Consortium will take place just before and in conjunction with Roundtable XI, hosted by Sun Microsystems in Menlo Park, California.

The events will take place all day (from 0800-1800) on Monday and Tuesday, ending at 1800 on Tuesday evening. Note that this differs from our previous practice of scheduling the test events from noon on Monday until noon on Wednesday.

Two Interoperability Test Events are planned: a "regular" event testing calendaring servers and clients, and a Mobile Calendaring test event based on the Mobile Calendar Interoperability Test Suite. These events will take place in parallel, but in different rooms.

Specific scenarios for the "regular" IOP test event are being developed but at this point we expect to have iCalendar/iMIP/iTIP scenarios, interoperability testing to determine the minimum interoperability subset for CALSIFY work ongoing in the IETF, and CalDAV testing. Interested parties are encouraged to join in the preliminary remote IOP testing jabber events; please contact us for further information.

Please note that you do not need finished or polished code to participate in the IOP testing; in fact as soon as you have something working at all, testing against other participants can help debugging and code development, especially in identifying red herrings and wrong decisions.

Who May Participate or Observe

Any vendor or organization wishing to test a calendaring and scheduling implementation, or a mobile calendaring server or client, is welcome to participate whether or not they are a Consortium member. Note that Consortium members receive a substantial discount on their CalConnect Interoperability Test Event registration fee.

Any vendor or organization wishing to observe the C.I.T.E. event is welcome whether or not they are a Consortium member. Note that an organization, member or not, may only observe one C.I.T.E. event.

Venue and Logistics

Please see Roundtable XI for logistics and schedule information for this event.

Registration

Please see CalConnect Interoperability Test Event Registration Fees for information about event registration fees. To register to participate in the event please select C.I.T.E. Participant Registration. To register to observe the event please select C.I.T.E. Observer Registration.

Registration for the C.I.T.E. covers both the regular and the mobile calendaring IOP test events if both are being held. If only one is being held, then the registration fee applies to that event only.

Interoperability Event Scenarios

If you are planning to participate, please contact us to let us know which interoperability event scenarios you wish to pursue or if you would like to propose a new scenario.

Co-Located Consortium Roundtable

CalConnect Interoperability Test Event participants who are not Consortium members will not be able to participate in the other Consortium activities unless their organization is an observer at this Roundtable. However, a non-member organization participating in the interoperability event can join the Consortium at the event, become a member immediately and be able to participate as a member in the technical committee and roundtable meetings.

Further Information

Detailed information including logistics, testing goals and scenarios will be posted on this page as soon as it is available. Please check this page frequently for updates.

If you have any question, please contact Dave Thewlis at the Consortium.
