FREEBUSY Technical Committee

Revised 5 February 2010

Charter

Founding Purpose

The FREEBUSY Technical Committee was originally chartered to collaborate with The Open Group on their "Federated FREEBUSY Vendor Challenge", to produce a working, standards-based solution, using current products, to the problem:

Current Scope

TC-Freebusy promotes calendaring and scheduling interoperability with respect to the sharing, exchange, and leveraging of FREEBUSY information by:
  • Identifying and publishing use cases
  • Identifying opportunities to improve standards, both formal and informal
  • Proposing and developing change, extensions, and additions to extant RFC's to enable new calendaring/scheduling capabilities with respect to Freebusy data.
  • Liaising with organizations engaged in significant and relevant FREEBUSY projects
  • Informing the work of, and be informed by the work of, other CalConnect Technical Committees
  • Following industry trends and developments

Current Focus

TC-Freebusy is developing an approach to integrating the functionality of consensus scheduling and calendar polling services (such as , but not limited to, Doodle.com) into calendaring standards. This work may result in proposed changes or extensions to extant RFCs, and/or the definition of a new API or APIs.

Charter originally approved: 23 May 2006

Charter expires: 31 October 2010
