Recent Changes:

Current to 25 September 2012
Minor schedule rearrangement for EVENTPUB, FREEBUSY, and XML TCs

CalConnect XXV, consisting of a CalConnect Interoperability Test Event, and a CalConnect Roundtable Technical Conference, will be held in Zürich, Switzerland, hosted by Google.

The Interoperability Test Event will take place all day Monday and Tuesday October 1-2, and Wednesday morning October 3, ending at noon. The Roundtable will begin with lunch at 12:00 on Wednesday the 3rd, and last through Friday afternoon the 7th.

CalConnect Interoperability Test Event: At this meeting, we plan to offer both regular and mobile interoperabilty testing at the CalConnect Interoperability Test Event. A participating organization may register for either or both events in a single regisstration, but should be aware that they may require additional individuals to participate in both events (they will take place in parallel).

The Interoperability Test Event is open to both members and non-members as participants or as observers; please see CalConnect Interoperability Test Event October 2012 for current information. Check back periodically as this will be updated as more information becomes available.

You do not need finished or polished code to participate in the IOP testing; in fact as soon as you have something working at all, testing against other participants can help debugging and code development, especially in identifying red herrings and wrong decisions.

Roundtable Technical Conference: The Roundtable Technical Conference will offer Technical Committee sessions, to which all members and observers are welcome, informal BOFs (Birds of a Feather sessions), plus additional sessions and committee meetings. In addition, workshops/symposia will be offered on Thursday and Friday mornings (more detailed information as we get closer to October).

Friday afternoon's final sessions will be the Technical Committee wrap-up and the full Plenary meeting of the Consortium, open to all participants. This session will include report-outs from all Technical Committees, and establishment of future goals and directions for the Consortium.

International Visitors

Citizens of the United States do not require a visa to visit Switzerland.

For all others, see the Federal Office for Migration FAQ: http://www.bfm.admin.ch/content/bfm/en/home/themen/einreise/faq.html.

In particular, the "Overview of ID and visa provisions according to nationality": http://www.bfm.admin.ch/content/dam/data/migration/rechtsgrundlagen/weisungen_und_kreisschreiben/weisungen_visa/bfm-anh01-liste1_vorschriften-nach-staat-e.pdf

Registration Information

Please see Registration and Payment Options to choose your registration type and payment option for the Roundtable and/or the CalConnect Interoperability Test Event. Note that you must register separately for the Roundtable and for the Test Event.

Special Registration Fees: For CalConnect XXV, the registration fee for first-time-attendees from non-members is a single fee of $350 which covers one participant in either the Interoperability Test Event, the Roundtable Technical Conference, or both. You must execute separate registration forms to attend both the Roundtable and the Interoperability Test Event but the single fee applies.

Location

The venue for CalConnect week will be at Google's Zurich campus, located at Brandschenkestrasse 110, 8002 Zürich. Here is a map showing the location of Google's campus, the nearby train station "Enge" and the hotels: http://goo.gl/oerbd. Transportation

Zürich is served by Zürich International Airport (ZRH). Direct connections are available from most European cities and a number of North American cities.

Ground Transportation: From the airport, train S2 goes every 30 mins to station "Enge" (a 30 min ride), from there it's a 10 min walk to Google or the B2 Hotel. Taxis are also available; the fee from the airport to Google is about CHF 40-50 and takes about 25 minutes depending on traffic.

Lodging

Google has preferential rates available at three nearby hotels. The first one is right next to Google, the other two are a 10 min walk away. CalConnect attendees may use the Google preferred rate (not sure that it's always the lowest rate available). To see the booking codes, member representatives may go to CalConnect XXV preferred hotel booking codes in the members area.

If you or your organization is not a CalConnect Member, we will send you the preferred booking codes upon request once you have registered for the event; contact Dave Thewlis.
