The Twelfth Roundtable of The Calendaring and Scheduling Consortium, together with the CalConnect Interoperability Test Events (C.I.T.E.), will be held in Madison, Wisconsin, Monday-Friday, June 2-6, 2008, hosted by The University of Wisconsin—Madison.

The C.I.T.E. interoperability testing will take place all day Monday and Tuesday, and Wednesday morning, ending at 12:00 on Wednesday. The Roundtable will begin with lunch at 12:30 on Wednesday the 4th, and goes to lunch at 13:00 on Friday the 6th. An optional Introductory Q & A about CalConnect is scheduled at 11:00 on Wednesday the 4th.

C.I.T.E. IOP Test Event: The C.I.T.E. interoperability testing event is open to members and non-members (and to participants and observers); please see C.I.T.E. June 2008 for current information. Check back often as this will be updated as we get nearer to the event. You do not need finished or polished code to participate in the IOP testing; in fact as soon as you have something working at all, testing against other participants can help debugging and code development, especially in identifying red herrings and wrong decisions.

Roundtable XII: The Roundtable will be largely comprised of Technical Committee meetings, to which all members and observers are welcome, informal BOFs (Birds of a Feather sessions), plus some additional sessions and committee meetings which will be determined closer to the event. Friday morning will be the full Plenary meeting of the Consortium, open to all participants. This session will include report-outs from all Technical Committees, possibly demonstrations resulting from the IOP testing earlier in the week, and establishment of future goals and directions for the Consortium.

Registration:

Registration information for the Roundtable may be found at Roundtable Registration; registration information for the C.I.T.E. IOP Test Events is at C.I.T.E. Participant Registration or at C.I.T.E. Observer Registration. You must register separately for the Roundtable and for the IOP test events if you plan to do both. Observers for either the Roundtable or the C.I.T.E. must also register via the appropriate registration form.

Please note: The early registration fee of $350 for Roundtable XII ends on May 19. After that date the registration fee will be $395.

Location

The C.I.T.E. and Roundtable will take place in the University of Wisconsin Memorial Union, 800 Langdon Street, on the Madison Campus of the University of Wisconsin. A map of the location is at Meeting and Hotels Locations.

Meeting Rooms: The C.I.T.E. will be held in the Old Madison room on the third floor of the Memorial Union building. The Roundtable will be held in the Beefeater's Room also on the third floor of the Memorial Union Building.

Parking: Parking is extremely limited on campus; in fact virtually nonexistent. If you have a car leave it at the hotel. Plan to walk or take a shuttle to the Memorial Union. The conference hotel is only about three blocks from the meeting site and also has a shuttle to the Memorial Union.

Transportation

Airport Information: Madison is served by Dane County Regional Airport, which is less than ten miles from the University. This is a regional airport and and most travelers will have to route though a larger airport. You may also fly to O'Hare International Airport (Chicago) and drive, but it is at least a three hour drive from the airport to Madison.

Ground Transportation: Taxi fare from the airport to the UW Memorial Union (meeting site) is approximately $12-$15 and takes about 15 minutes. Shuttles and a public metro bus are also available. See http://www.msnairport.com/guide/ground_transport.aspx.

Major rental car companies are available onsite at Dane County Airport; see http://www.msnairport.com/guide/car_rentals.aspx. However, due to the closeness of the conference hotel and the meeting site, and the lack of available parking at the meeting site, we recommend that you not bother with a rental car at all unless you have special circumstances.

Conference Hotel:

We have arranged a block of rooms at a special conference rate at the Doubletree Madison hotel, 525 West Johnson Street, Madison. The hotel is approximately three blocks from the Memorial Union building on campus.

The conference rate is $119 plus taxes per night. Please contact them at +1 800-222-8733 +1 608-251-5511 to make your reservation. Be sure to ask for the group rate for the CAL conference to get this rate.

Note Well: The room block will be released on May 12. After that date rooms may still be available but this special rate will no longer be available.

Several other hotels are available in the area if you are unable to stay at the Doubletree; please refer to Meeting and Hotels Locations.

Schedule:

This is the preliminary schedule for the week. The C.I.T.E. is all day Monday and Tuesday, plus Wednesdy morning. The Roundtable begins with lunch on Wednesday and runs until early afternoon on Friday. A detailed schedule and agendas for the sessions and BOFs will be posted nearer to the event, hopefully by mid-May. by mid-January.

As noted, all activities take place in the Memorial Union building on the University Campus, 800 Landon Street, Madison.

You can download an iCalendar.ics file with the entire schedule at CalConnectXII.ics.
